Towards the end of Friday, popular Facebook-owned services on WhatsApp and Instagram were attacked worldwide, including India, which lasted about 45 minutes, preventing users of these apps from accessing, sending or receiving messages, in these forums.

Why did the electricity happen?
While a specific reason was not given by Facebook – the parent company of both apps – a spokesman for the company noted that the termination of the agreement was a “technical problem” that “caused people to have difficulty accessing other Facebook services”.
What was the effect of the power outage?
In India alone, there are 53 crore WhatsApp users and 21 Instagram crore users. According to the popular Downdetector downtime reporting service, more than 49% of WhatsApp users were having trouble connecting, 48% were unable to send or receive messages on the platform and 2% were unable to sign in. Downdetector also showed that about 66% of Instagram users did not have access to the app’s feed, as well as the official website.
Has such an exit happened before?
In 2020 alone, there were four major WhatsApp spaces, the largest of which was January, which lasted about three hours. After this, there was one in April, followed by a two-hour exit in July and a short one in August.
